Lost-in-DreamsLet the story proceed when the reader is hooked by its content, otherwise it would be a trite shamble of lines where one has to pick the best and muster the rest in a tedious way to decipher the idea of an author. So with all human affairs where platforms are laid for implementation once they gain approval from the beneficiaries. What about you? Aren’t you too deserved to continue once you woo the mind and buoy the heart of man so desperate to cross a different reality? But why are you elusive – too elusive even compared to human behavior? With how you feast on the futile mind of men, so others are foolish to easily believe in different realities molded by you. You are a selfish god that feeds the soul with flavors yet fails to quench its thirst; you are tricky devil that flaunts in men with so much delight; you are like a burner that singes the stove and suddenly gets bored and puts off your heat leaving the spices on top of you uncooked. Woe to you great magician who plays the mind with follies and keeps it form there with illusions!

Such a powerful dictator you have become. When ideas are slaves of the mind, you sneak like a burglar, so mischievous to leave a trace and escape like a bullet while paining other beings on your way out. Yet all of these happen in the same mind where the seat of ideas is controlled by human will. Are you really there or not? But even if you are there, you remain an enigma laughing on your tasks of creating characters in human sleep. If ideas are structured by the mind, you, on the other hand, work independently apart from it the way parasites feed on their host yet maintain a different identity of their own. But despite that, I exalt you for you alone are the biggest story maker, the best scene director, the most wicked script writer, and the admirable bohemian producer of all. Only you have the power to dominate the subconscious state – either to inspire and or lead it to its doom and insanity. You are a wicked genius. Has your intelligence prompted your creativity to toy my mind, let it be in exchange of a favor: do not leave me too soon.  Please, I just hate it when you do that because you will take a different form when you come back; and just for this moment, do not shut me out again. Not in the bookstore where between the piles of books, I see my heart’s desire: the beauty that has taunted me for years. And as I see her walking towards me, I beg you not to leave as darkness says goodbye at day-break.  Not in the bookstore where a blue floral skirt sways gracefully to capture my heart. After all, this is your creation…and I wish you continue it beyond the end of June.

though i do not know what you have been dreaming of, i hope the dream maker will have the mercy to turn it into reality. you are not going to say “you’re dreaming” when all of your thoughts are filled with horrible images.

hey, young lady, you seem in love. am i right?

Beautiful lines Totomel… I believe that a unique dream is seeded into each of our hearts to fuel us. Sometimes this special dream gets lost in the cornucopia of our self-made dreams. Maybe, paraphrasing Coelho, if the universe do not conspire to fulfill a dream we pursue, then it may not be that great dream seeded into us…

As for self-made dreams, I believe that in our hands lie the possiblity of their fruition. Passion fuels our dreams. Inspiration fuels passion. We must therefore invest in inspiration… 😀

      July 1, 2009 at 4:16 am

perfectly said Sir. there is a strict dichotomy between the self-made dreams and the dreams that happen in subconscious state..but both, especially if they create impact in our lives, are stored in our memory for guidance.

Just love the dictatorial stature sometimes of this beast – it brings magic, depth, non-photoshopped images. Yes, it can be very furtive at times but it often guides me to my unexplored inner terrain. And from there – wonder could slap me to a more fertile awakening…Dreams – to a different, richer reality. Thank you Bro for this thought-provoking post…

      July 1, 2009 at 4:38 am

I agree brother…. i guess our mind never stops to open up realities even at times of snoring in deep sleep.

Dreams are wonedrful gifts of God yet could turn out to be a diabolic playground of the devil as well. i wonder if dreams are completely new entities apart from the world which shrinks called the projection of the subconscious, surely it had played fair enough with God, men and the devil. creepy!

Brother, i wasnt able to visit the philo dept because it was transfered to Talamban Campus. hehehe….next time na lang.

        • July 1, 2009 at 8:24 am

Ha? To Talamban. This is demolition igsoon. I hate change in this case hahaha. I luv the semi-lighted aura of the Office. There was something archaic a feel about it that I would surely miss…

            July 1, 2009 at 8:32 am

bitaw igsoon ug duol pa sa library….but you know, i like Talamban better bya because of the space and topography. toa naman tanan pati nursing, psych na mga sexy, ug cool na mga engineering students. ang nahabilin ra kay college of commerce and college of law sa main and college of education in south campus. ug pagkachada na jud tan awon uy, magpatindog pa daw ug hotel ang main.wahhhh….bati lang ang uniform nila ron ug pati laki kay naa na – murag mga congressional bodyguards.Bati! hehehe

            • July 1, 2009 at 8:45 am

Waaa! College of Commerce and Law na lang nahibilin? What a blow to the main campus gaiety (read: galawgaw). During our time, it was only the Natural Sciences depts. ghosting that semi-secluded place of Talamban. Hahaha, speaking of uniforms – morag congressional b-guards…Basta ako – i love the PE cotton shirt bisan dili ko ganahan ni Maam Pacana.

        • July 1, 2009 at 8:27 am

Anyhow, this seem to signal a post-Velez, post-Jayme, post-Diluvio era in the department with younger, more enterprising faculty brave enough to ride on the academic trend of getting published.

who will be the next? Dr. Galeon, Mandane, Urbano? i like the olds better.heheheh

            • July 1, 2009 at 8:50 am

Seems like Maam Jayme’s intellectual humility and depth is hard to surpass. Honestly, Galeon and Urbano, both mistahs of mine, i don’t know how they have evolved since then. Getting a PhD or MA these days is becoming commonplace. But even with those degrees, you still have to vie for something original like Dr. Timbreza, prove that you are in the business of critical thinking and then get soiled by making it practical. You know what i mean.

    July 1, 2009 at 9:13 am

of course…it’s a choice and it’s infectious to those who listen passively. in fairness to Urbano, he is a good writer 🙂

    • July 1, 2009 at 9:19 am

Wow,i know he was a careful writer since then. Any link you know to his published works? Mandane seems a sleepless writer and editor at this point…Galeon – he was argumentative back then, very studious.

      • TóTómel
        July 1, 2009 at 9:28 am

yup…but i guess Galeon and Urbano matured in fast pace except Mandane who still sticks to being verbose. you know what i mean by that.hehehe. hey, Dfish what if it turns out that you are Mandane yourself?heheheh better be careful boy.hehehe

Diluvio retired last year…but i still deem him as the best writer of all the living in the Philo Dept.hehehe

        • July 1, 2009 at 9:47 am

Hahaha – there’s always that beast of verbosity in each, measurable depending on relative standards hahaha…

            July 2, 2009 at 3:22 am

yes i know, but im referring to somebody that writes for sheer flaunting that he alone could understand his work…hey, that does not click to these days. be simple…be simple…be simple…heheheh

            • July 2, 2009 at 3:47 am

C’mon Igsoon – academic writing has all the tendency for airy language…I agree – one can keep the organization of ideas simpler. But the language in academic writing presents a different flavor as all of us know. But i’m aware also that there is a difference between academic writing and writing for popular consumption. If an intellectual can traverse both borders easily, then, chances are, his/her reputation would skyrocket. Richard Dawkins is a living example. In any case, Mandane remains a stranger to me so i couldn’t say more…

              • TóTómel
                July 2, 2009 at 6:43 am

Richard Dawkins-surely one of the bests in that way….well case closed for Mandane.hehehe

        • July 1, 2009 at 9:49 am

Hahaha – i’m not published yet and i guess that disqualifies me…Diluvio – i love the authenticity behind the writings…

Yes Igsoon, and it’s a choice. Maybe, along the line of Jerry Orbos, pwede pa hehehe…

  7. July 1, 2009 at 9:25 am

Hi kapatid, good to see you here. Himoon na nato ning tambayan, tara…I guess i’m just being sentimental about the archaic feel of the old campus. The building is somehow connected to the oldest street Colon so morag mawala pud ni nga connection to history. But change is inevitable so sige na lang…

      • July 2, 2009 at 8:51 am

Lagi kapatid… In fact I was the one who referred Totomel to your blog… 😀

Yup kapatid, thanks for caving me in to this “intellectually stuffed” guy named Totomel (activist’s reactions are welcome especially once i know you went through a Redemp Sem) hahaha. CWW – nag-marathon comments ako sa blog mo today. I’m paid in my job to post comments hehehe…

hmmmm….did you go through Redemp brother, LIGOY?hahaha. missed my superdominating Redemp classmates, the ever noisy Scala, Mission for the Deaf, and Sacred Heart…and of course the minority Passio and SVD and intellectual Carmelites. hehehe

            • July 3, 2009 at 7:37 am

Banawa Boys Igsoon, pwede Guadalupe, pwede pud Englis ang byahe hahaha. The Redem – i made the best of friends with them, one from Barotac Nuevo Richie Apaitan. Amazingly, the Redem, you’re right, they seem to be really well chosen through IQ standard. So much talent all consistently. Intellectual Carmelites? We never had them in our time. The Columbans – few but highly gifted Igsoon…The Passionists – saba ra pud usahay uy hehehe. SVD – pampered ra pud kaayo way pabor pabor…

              • July 3, 2009 at 7:41 am

Sorry Igsoon, gibasa nako usab imong comment. Morag na belong man mi sa Council of the Noisy. Hmmmm. Pwede pud projection ang akong gisulat about the Passionate Kissers…

                • July 3, 2009 at 8:27 am

Igsoon, maybe the Redem seminary is trying to delete the “forgettables”. Redemp at least in my time were exceptional pero wala gyud isa mipadayon after. Ritchie Apaitan along with Donn Maynard Gonzales, Ryan Urbano, and the most gifted in their batch with a photographic memory nga tulog-tulugan lang ang finals – si Eduardo Piamonte. Ryan is really one humble, good friend and a skilled cager. I like the man – very simple! Except for Ryan, ang mga gahi’g ulo, internet age na, dili pa gihapon mahanap ni Uncle Google ang ilang whereabouts. Grrr…
